Dental office employee arrested for allegedly stealing $600k from customers over months
An employee at a dental office in South Carolina was arrested after allegedly stealing more than $600,000 over several months.
Ashanti Keyana Kinney, a staff member of the Affordable Dentures & Implants in Myrtle Beach, was arrested on November 18 and is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent.
Kinney stole $612,990.20 from the business between January 1 and August 15, according to investigators.
Officials used bank records, audit documents, and scheduling paperwork to lead to an arrest.
The investigators claimed that the 39-year-old would review patient accounts and mark them as ‘paid’ for the procedures, but keep the money.
Her job was to collect cash from customers and deposit it at the bank, according to a report cited by WMBF.
Following her arrest, she posted a $20,000 bond and was released from the Horry County jail on November 19.

On her latest post, a caption describing the dinner finished with the hashtag ‘600k’ accompanied by a laughing emoji.
Under the post, a friend of Kinney’s commented: ‘AND IF YOU DID THE F***. MAYBE THEY WASN’T PAYING ENOUGH.’
To which she replied: ‘It’s all good! I promise you my family would have been taken care of! FIRST! It’s no way.’
The friend then continued, saying that the media is making this story out of nothing and that there was no way Kinney could have done it, given how she watches her kids.
