Former news anchor allegedly stabs mother to death and reveals reason why to emergency dispatcher

Angelynn Mock was reportedly seen by a neighbor covered in blood
A former Fox news anchor has been arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of murdering her mother at her home.
Police previously confirmed that they had responded to a ‘reported cutting’ at a home in Wichita, Kansas, just before 8 a.m. on Friday October 31.
This was initially shared on Facebook by the Sedgwick County Police Department in a media release.
Angelynn Mock, 47, who previously worked at KTVI Fox 2 in Missouri as a morning and evening fill-in anchor from 2011 to 2015, was arrested at the home.
A neighbor in the area, Alyssa Castro, spoke to local media about seeing Mock stepping out of a home, while soaked in blood.
She said: “There was a woman who approached [her and her boyfriend’s] vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911.”
Castro said Mock requested a phone and then went back inside the house and called the authorities.

Sedgwick County dispatchers told the media outlet KAKE that Mock claimed to the authorities that she ‘stabbed her mother to save herself.’
When authorities arrived, Mock was waiting outside of the home and was seen with some cuts on her hands.
Police discovered Mock’s mother, 80-year-old Anita Avers, in her bed with multiple stab wounds.
According to the authorities, she was found unresponsive and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died just 30 minutes later.
Avers’ husband also confirmed that she was a marriage and family therapist at Wichita Counseling Professionals.
Mock has now been taken into custody and has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for first degree murder. She is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

Castro and her boyfriend got their phone back and were glad they were able to help. Castro also commented about the apparent ‘randomness’ of the incident.
She said: “Like, we never know what anyone is going through. This happened randomly, but as long as we were able to get 911 and see what we can do, that’s all I really care about.”
Despite what Mock reportedly said to the dispatchers, her motive for the alleged crime is not clear at the time and police have launched an investigation to discover more information about the incident.
Information about Mock’s upcoming court appearance is currently unavailable.
