Jimmy Kimmel opens FOOD BANK outside his studio in fresh dig at Trump after suspension of his show

Jimmy Kimmel has opened a food bank outside of his Los Angeles studio in a fresh dig at President Donald Trump as millions of Americans struggle to feed their families.

Kimmel’s food drive, named The Jimmy Kimmel Live Big, Beautiful Food Bank in an apparent reference to Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill, is offering pantry staples in an effort to combat the pressures caused by the ongoing government shutdown.

It comes amid uncertainty for 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP benefits to put food on their tables.

The government shutdown, which has now lasted more than a month, means that the payments were not deposited into recipient’s bank accounts to help cover the cost of groceries.

The crisis is only amplified by the fact that 1.4million federal workers have been stood down or forced to work without pay as a result of the standoff between both parties.

But a federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the Trump administration on Thursday to find the money to fully fund SNAP benefits for November.

Trump had earlier implied he would not fund the program at all, a statement which was quickly walked-back by the White House and replaced with a vow to cover 65 percent of the maximum benefit.

But cities and nonprofits took the matter to U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell Jr. on Thursday, demanding a higher input from the federal government.

Jimmy Kimmel Live, in response to the crisis, shared a post to Instagram announcing his food drive, writing: ‘Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors and families.

‘To support our community members in need, we’re starting a donation center in our Hollywood backlot to benefit the @LAFoodBank & @StJosephCtr.

‘If you are in LA, please come by to donate food and if you are not, please consider supporting your local food banks.’

Kimmel is urging members of the community to donate food staples like crackers, trail mix, fruit snacks, juice boxes, dried fruit and cereal to his drive.

Other staples they’re searching for are wipes, diapers, facial cleanser, deodorant, soap, lotions, oral hygiene items and feminine products.

He addressed the situation himself on his program, asking the live audience: ‘Just think about how cruel a person has to be to cut off food to 42 million people.

‘It’s the kind of thing that makes you go, ”oh, no wonder his kids are like that.” The guy who never missed a happy meal in his life is deciding who gets to eat in this country.

‘After the courts ordered them to do it, the government agreed to pay half the benefits, which is not enough. So we are going to have to help.

‘We are building an East Wing of food donations,’ Kimmel said, referencing Trump’s decision to tear down the East Wing of the White House to make way for his grand new ballroom.

Kimmel also addressed Trump’s earlier vow to only return SNAP benefits ‘when the Radical Left Democrats open up government’ and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s swift promise the administration would comply with court orders.

‘His press secretary had to go out there and walk that back because he legally can’t do it,’ Kimmel said.

‘Isn’t it amazing, the president says one thing, the White House says another entirely different… it’s like the one hand doesn’t know what the other tiny, bruised, makeup covered, greasy… baby hand is doing.’

Kimmel has been praised for his food drive, and videos from the food bank already show boxes stacked to the brim with pantry staples ready to be handed out.

‘Thankx for stepping up @jimmykimmel. The Jimmy Kimmel Big Beautiful Food Drive at 6901 Hawthorne Ave in Los Angeles. All canned and boxed food and personal hygiene products needed.’

Kimmel’s latest move against Trump comes after he took aim at the president’s Great Gatsby-themed Halloween party and called out the administration over the decision to suspend his show.

‘You know, throwing a party at your private golf club where the theme is rich white people hours before millions of Americans are set to lose their food assistance might be the Trumpiest Trump move of all time,’ Kimmel said Monday night.

‘It felt like the last big bash before the Epstein files come out.’

Kimmel was briefly taken off the air back in September, after he made a joke about Trump’s response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

His suspension sparked mass protests and fury among the general public, and he was reinstated six days later.
