White House’s shocking excuse for Trump calling female reporter ‘ugly’ after pointing out his recent ‘fatigue’

After Donald Trump hit out at a reporter and called her ‘ugly, both inside and out’, the White House has come up with an ‘excuse’ for the president’s behavior.

First ‘piggy’, now ‘ugly’, the POTUS has been catching a lot of online flak for the way he talks to female journalists.

Just weeks after Trump was ridiculed when it appeared he had closed his eyes and drifted off during an Oval Office presentation, a major news publication referenced it and he doesn’t seem to be taking it well.

Katie Rogers, a New York Times (NYT) reporter, penned a piece that was published on Tuesday (November 25) which listed times where she believed Trump was showing his age, and was noticeably ‘fatigued’.

For instance, she wrote of the times the president had been spotted with what appeared to be a bruise on his hand, sparking health fears online, as well as moments he seemed to be taking a ‘nap’.

The latest was earlier this month, when ‘not-a-sleeper’ Trump was listening to his appointed head of Medicare services, former TV host Dr Oz, explain his plans to lower the cost of weight loss drugs for Americans.

However, some people thought the US leader seemed to be snoozing, which the White House viciously denied.

The NYT article, which was written in collaboration with fellow journalist Dylan Freedman, received a scathing response from Trump on Truth Social.

“The writer of the story, Katie Rogers, who is assigned to write only bad things about me, is a third rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out,” the POTUS wrote online.

“The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again,” Trump added, claiming they wrote a ‘hit piece’ about him.

His latest social media rant shocked many, but the Trump administration issued a response to explain his wording.

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told People: “President Trump has never been politically correct, never holds back, and in large part, the American people re-elected him for his transparency.”

“This has nothing to do with gender,” Jackson added. “It has everything to do with the fact that the President’s and the public’s trust in the media is at all time lows.”

The New York Times has since issued a response to Trump’s comments about Rogers, with Charlie Stadtlander, the executive director of media relations and communications for the outlet, stating: “The Times’s reporting is accurate and built on first-hand reporting of the facts. Name-calling and personal insults don’t change that, nor will our journalists hesitate to cover this administration in the face of intimidation tactics like this.

“Expert and thorough reporters like Katie Rogers exemplify how an independent and free press helps the American people better understand their government and its leaders.”
